Malaysian scientist honours team after cancer research win


PETALING JAYA: Malaysian scientist Prof Dr Serena Nik-Zainal (pic) has honoured the team that worked on the cancer genome interpretation research with her. Dr Serena is currently based in Britain, where she is with the University of Cambridge’s Medical Genetics Department and Medical Research Council Cancer Unit. Dr Serena said her social media accounts had received a lot of attention from the public after news broke that she would be awarded the Dr Josef Steiner Cancer Research Prize 2019. As principal investigator in the research, Dr Serena collaborated with Dr Paul Calleja and Dr Ignacio Medina to find ways to hasten the cancer genome interpretation process.
