PETALING JAYA: The Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) says it will continue carrying out enforcement on complaints against all syariah crimes – including khalwat – through the Selangor Islamic Religious Department's (Jais) enforcement division. "Mais is always monitoring and ensuring that enforcement actions carried out are exactly to approved standard operating procedures and the laws in force," Mohammed Khusrin said in the statement. Muslims in Selangor, the council stated, were advised against committing any offences enshrined in the Syariah Criminal Offences Enactment (Selangor) 1995. The religious council also urged all parties to give information relating to any syariah criminal acts taking place by contacting the Jais enforcement hotline at 1-800-88-2424. Selangor is the second state, after Pahang, to reaffirm enforcement action against immoral activities such as khalwat.
