MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is once again appealing for changes in the operation of malls along EDSA to address the potential gridlock during the upcoming holiday season. The MMDA will ask mall operators to adjust the opening and closing of malls to a later time, among others, according to MMDA spokesperson Celine Pialago in an interview with radio station dzBB yesterday. “Instead of 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., they could open at 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.,” Pialago said. Pialago said the MMDA and mall operators would meet anytime this week to finalize plans. Last year, the MMDA implemented its policy on changes in mall hours and suspended works on certain major roads in Metro Manila, including EDSA, for around two months.
