The Libyan Foreign Minister of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Sayala, discussed in Washington with the US Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Energy Resources, Francis R. Fannon cooperation in oil and gas sector, and renewable energy sectors. The two parties, the media office of the foreign ministry reported, agreed to work toward achieving security and stability to maintain levels of oil and gas production, as the US official invited Libya to participate in Houston oil and gas conference in mid-March. Likewise, Sayala met with the US Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs, Kathryn Wheelbarger, and reviewed cooperation in security and defense sectors, especially in fighting terrorism, boosting Libyan cadres in protecting borders against snuggling and human trafficking. Sayala discussed also with the US Deputy Assistant Director of CIA for Africa, Cyril Sartor, security challenges in Libya, especially in the upcoming constitution referendum and elections in the country. Sayala was in Washington attending a conference for the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS.
