ALOR STAR: Kedah government today welcomed the Federal government’s plan to take over maintenance works at the People’s Housing Project (PPR) nationwide. The state Housing and Local Government, Water Resources and Water Supply and Energy Committee chairman Datuk Badrul Hisham Hashim said the move would ensure a better care for PPR homes. According to Badrul said there are two PPR homes in Kedah namely Paya Nahu Flat in Sungai Petani and Taman Dahlia in Langkawi with a total of 1,894 homes. “We welcome the Federal government’s move because it will ensure a better maintenance for the PPR residents,” he said when met on the sidelines of the state assembly sitting. “Once the Federal government takes over the maintenance works of the PPR homes, the state could channel the allocation for the flats for other purposes including building more low-cost homes for Kedahans,” he said.
