After announcing cash for farmers, the Odisha government is ready to extend an annual financial assistance of ₹20,000 for each student belonging to the underprivileged section of the society in graduation and post-graduation programmes. This scheme is in addition to the existing scholarships being availed by students. The financial assistance will be limited to the duration of the course. It will be given every year till the completion of the course. “It is anticipated that the scheme will lead to participation of the underprivileged section in gaining access to higher education,” said the State Higher Education Secretary.
