Jadavpur: Applicants to Jadavpur University's lateral entry programme next year must crack the joint entrance lateral entry test and must have physics, chemistry and math at the plus-II level with 60 per cent marks in all three subjects taken together. Till this year, lateral entry aspirants at JU needed to pass the Higher Secondary (plus-II) or an equivalent exam before their diploma course. Ten percent additional seats are created to accommodate students coming through lateral entry in the second year. Apart from JU, the lateral entry programme is available at Calcutta University, government and private engineering colleges. At Calcutta University, only those who have passed BSc are allowed to study BTech through lateral entry.
