Then in 1971, the editors introduced the “Most Influential Black Americans List”, which later evolved into the annual EBONY Power 100 list to recognize and celebrate the most inspiring and influential leaders of color who are impacting and shaping our world today. “The EBONY Power 100 list is comprised of all-star individuals from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines who possess an incredible and innate passion for innovation, culture and community leadership – the same values that have driven the EBONY brand for nearly 75 years,” said EBONY Media Operations CEO Michael Gibson. There are many talented African-Americans around the world, which leaves our team truly challenged with narrowing down the number to 100,” Gibson said. While the EBONY Power 100 list shines light on worldwide household names including Barack and Michelle Obama, Cardi B, Drake, Shonda Rhimes, Steph Curry, Travis Scott, Alfre Woodard, Yara Shahidi, and Zoe Kravitz, it also recognizes leaders who have become household names in their communities for their impact and outstanding achievements. The EBONY Power 100 Gala presented by Nationwide, will take place on November 30 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
