In a recent case against a quack doctor, the anti-quackery cell of the Delhi Medical Association received a complaint in which a doctor, who has been running a medical clinic on a two-wheeler in Nabi Kareem area of Delhi, gave wrong medicines to a pregnant woman leading to miscarriage. Taking action on this, DMA has now forwarded the complaint to the government department and is planning to catch hold of the doctor. "We received this letter last week and soon after we sent the complainant to the Delhi Medical Council, forwarded the complaint to the Delhi Health Department and will be sending it to the Delhi Police as well. Soon after taking the medicine, his wife started to bleed and had to be taken to the Lady Hardinge Hospital. We will investigate the matter and if proven true, this will attract three years imprisonment and a fine of RS 20,000 at least under Section 27 of the Delhi Medical Council," said Dr Girish Tyagi, Registrar, Delhi Med Council.
