By JOSEPH WANGUIMore by this AuthorA Nairobi-based lawyer did not appear in a Nyeri court on Thursday in a case in which he is charged with selling three prohibited guns and 100 bullets to businessman Jimi Wanjigi. Mr Memba Muriuki had been summoned before Nyeri Chief Magistrate Wendy Kagendo, but his lawyer, a Mr Kaberia, told the court that the criminal proceedings had been stopped by a High Court in Nairobi. ORDERSThe court was told that the orders were obtained on March 7, 2018 from Justice Roselyn Aburili. The orders directed the Inspector-General of Police, Director of Public Prosecutions and the Nyeri chief magistrate to suspend proceedings or plea taking in the criminal case until the judge issues further directives. The prosecution has lined up six witnesses in the case, including the former Chief Gun Licensing Officer Samuel Kimaru and Directorate of Criminal Investigations officer Maxwell Otieno.
