Couple learn the hard way that an electrical contractor was unlicensed and untrained in how to do electric work

Ensure your electrical contractor is licensed and has a permit for work like solar panel installations, advises the provincial Electrical Safety Authority. He was convicted in Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville, Ont., on Feb. 19, for conducting electrical work without an electrical contractor’s licence and failing to apply for inspection. The couple has a message to others who hire companies for projects that involve electrical work. “They also told us to contact the Electrical Safety Authority.” All electrical work in Ontario must comply with the Ontario Electrical Safety Code. The wiring was not up to the Ontario Electrical Safety Code standards and would have posed a danger if energized.
