A community initiative to sell kindling for charity is being pushed out by big corporates in North Canterbury. The Woodend Lions Club in North Canterbury has raised thousands for local causes over the years, but the man behind the project says it is becoming harder to do. Murray Prattley began selling kindling with his former Pakeke Club and continued the venture after the club folded three years ago. EMMA DANGERFIELD/Stuff Woodend Lions Club member Peter Foote has been involved in the project for the past two years. Fellow Woodend Lions Club member Peter Foote joined the operation two years ago, helping turn old pallets destined for landfill into dry kindling for the community.
