Beijing, China – As the Communist Party of China (CPC) gets set for the start of its once in five years congress, beginning Wednesday, October 18, the spokesperson for the most powerful political gathering in the nation said amending the party’s constitution is amongst four major areas of focus. Prepping for the event started back in October 2016, according to the congress spokesman. “Experience have shown that making appropriate amendments to the party constitution in line with new developments and tasks can help every member of the party better understand, abide by, apply and uphold the party constitution,” Tuo told a hall packed with Chinese and foreign journalists. China has made significant economic progress under its one party system despite criticism from western nations. “So far, China has established various forms of partnership with about 100 countries, regions and regional organizations, and China's "friends circle" has become larger,” he said.
