As songs work their way up charts and come within striking distance of the No. These efforts don’t always work, and not every track can be a champion, but the chances are better if there’s a major star (or more than one) involved. Ed Sheeran is clearly looking to rule the Hot 100 for just the second time in his career with his new single “Perfect”—or “Perfect Duet,” as it should now be known—which has just been re-released with Beyoncé in tow. Adding a superstar like her to an already successful song has the power to make it a chart-topper, and there’s plenty of reason to believe that “Perfect” will bolt to No. The fact that Bey has jumped on “Perfect” may convince millions of her fans who don’t listen to Sheeran to try the song, and their collaboration will likely rise in radio play thanks to interested programmers.
