The Bombay High Court on Monday asked the state government to list out the steps it has taken to provide amenities to senior citizens. The court directed senior state officials to take cognisance of the issue and come out with proper steps. The government, in an affidavit filed earlier, had said that several schemes extending assistance to senior citizens have been implemented. However, Advocate Siddharth Murarka informed the court that government-aided old age homes can accommodate only around 2,000 senior citizens. OLD AGE HOMESThere are 62 centrally sponsored old age homes.
