Ant McPartlin admitted drink-driving at Wimbledon magistrates court after crashing his car while twice the legal limit last month TIMES PHOTOGRAPHER RICHARD POHLEThe millionaire television presenter Anthony McPartlin, half of the Ant and Dec team, has been fined £86,000 after admitting crashing his car while twice the legal alcohol limit. The fine is believed to be the highest imposed by a UK court for drink-driving. The previous record was £54,000, given to the Manchester City footballer Yaya Touré in 2016. The District Judge, Barbara Barnes, noted that McPartlin, 42, earned about £130,000 a week and should feel “financial pain” like any other offender. Speaking briefly outside the court after his sentencing, McPartlin said that he was truly sorry.
