After ten days driving a Tiguan SEL Premium in Los Angeles traffic and twice running it over my mountain course, I’m left with limited picayune criticisms and considerable praise. EWINGTiguan is derived from the same “MQB Grande” engineering toolkit as the Atlas CUV, a vehicle that has deservedly won accolades. Smaller and lighter than its Atlas stablemate, Tiguan drives like a tall yet nimble sportswagen, a talent that immediately sets it apart from Asiatic competitors. Only the all-wheel drive Tiguan can be ordered without a third row, expanding cargo space. Tiguan achieved an Insurance Institute of Highway Safety Top Safety Pick rating in the IIHS’s rigorous crash-testing regime.
