"A technical incident due to a sound system failure disrupted the kick-off," read a statement released by the Confederation of African Football. CAF apologised "to the teams, officials, supporters and viewers" for what it called an "unfortunate incident". With nothing playing over the sound system at the Stade de l'Amitie, supporters of the two teams took their own cues to sing the respective anthems ahead of the Group A encounter.

Upon observation, this list, which had 500 establishments in 2015, against 418 only in 2016, keeps on shrinking, due in part to cancellations of approvals against some structures, and the management problems which they have been facing recently. Indeed, after the bankruptcy of Cofinest and Fiffa some years ago, Crédit Mutuel and Comeci are in trouble, Société Financière Africaine (SFA) was put under administration, while Binum Tontine, Djagui du Cameroun and Mutuelle de Développement et d’Investissements du Cameroun (MDIC) simply had their approval withdrawn.

After this phase, the company highlights, “the experts and engineers will analyse the capital information for the actual laying of the cable. This will help in particular to determine the route for the 6,000 km of cable crossing the Atlantic ocean and the protections to be implemented, from Kribi to Fortaleza, and define the particularities of the cables for their production”. As a reminder, the company Huawei Marine Networks, Chinese firm in charge of deploying this submarine cable, first infrastructure of this type to link Africa to Latin America, has already awarded the production of this cable of 6,000 km to the French company Nexans.

According to the National President of Medico Sanitary Balla Balla, the decision to begin the strike action was taken because of the following grievances:- Contract workers do not benefit from health allowances although they do the same job. - No medical coverage for health personnel. According to the trade Unionists, the long list of demands have not been heeded to for the past 20 years. During the meeting, the Minister of Public Health argued that the problems will be addressed but the members of the Trade Union remained skeptical and maintained the decision to go on strike.
