A committee appointed by the High Court had revealed large-scale enchoachment on public land, including the construction of the Hanuman idol, in the area. Earlier, the court had remarked that religious structures cannot be allowed to encroach on public land for private gain and at the expense of others' rights. The court was hearing a bunch of petitions relating to illegal constructions and encroachments in Karol Bagh area of Delhi.

Nagarkurnool police on December 10 arrested M Swati, 27, on the charge of killing her husband M Sudhakar Reddy with the help of her paramour, Rajesh, a physiotherapist. Subsequently, an 'injured Rajesh, who was pretending as Sudhakar, was shifted to Apollo Hospitals in Hyderabad.Police said Sudhakar was a non-vegetarian and used to like mutton soup, while Rajesh, the paramour of Swati, is a vegetarian. When nurses at the hospital offered him mutton soup, Rajesh for better healing, refused to consume it, saying he was a vegetarian.

NEW DELHI: The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation ( EPFO ) advised subscribers on Tuesday against completely withdrawing funds for petty reasons, saying such a decision would cost them social security benefits that only come with continuity.People should not treat the money like a bank deposit , the retirement fund body added. "We want to convey to all our members not to be tempted to make final withdrawals from their provident fund balances unless and until it is really necessary. They should continue to live with the fund until they retire from service, that is our primary objective," V Ranganath , additional commissioner, central PF commissioner, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh , said. "...We are discouraging people withdrawing in full for petty reasons, because they are not only losing on their PF money, they are also losing out big time on security in their old age and pension," he added.

NEW DELHI: More than a year after the Indore-Patna Express derailment in Kanpur killed 148 people, investigations have established there was 'no conspiracy' behind the incident. According to highly placed sources, IIT-Kanpur, approached by the National Investigation Agency NIA ) to examine the reasons behind the derailment, has ruled out sabotage in its report.The IIT-K experts have cited defects in the train's bogies and jamming of wheels as the reasons why the train derailed on November 20 last year, said sources. Also, there is no evidence of any explosion on the tracks near Kanpur that day. This module was behind the Bhopal-Ujjain passenger train blast in Madhya Pradesh on March 7 this year that injured 10 people. The NIA also investigated the role of Maoists in the Kanpur derailment, but evidence didn't support the theory.

"Since no manufacturer knows which particular product will be registered as a cab or transport vehicle, the solution has to be at the end when the dealer dispatches the vehicle. The manufacturers have said there are ways out and passengers to disable the child locks before starting the journey.He added that there is also a need to look into whether a child lock in a car is needed at all since now almost all cars have got central locking systems. Last month, the Delhi government had directed cab owners and drivers to paste a "clearly visible" sticker on their vehicles, cautioning passengers to disable the child locks before starting the journey.
