EPA moves on ‘toxic’ Chinese factory at Asutuare

Speaking to Citi News, an Executive Director in charge of Technical at the EPA, Ebenezer Sampong, said the Agency started receiving reports of the factory’s operations in 2017. The last time I spoke with the District Chief Executive, he said we are expecting a report from the EPA” he stated. Martin Fianuo said tilapia production along the Volta Lake, rice production at Asutuare, as well as banana farmers, are likely to be affected. “The waste material from their paper is dumped into a drain which leads into a catchment drain of the canal. The factory fumes, together with the toilet roll fumes are causing serious problems,” he added.
